MOS’s installation, supervision, and development work supports Veisto’s success

As the number of projects and maintenance needs fluctuate, the importance of a reliable partner becomes emphasized. Veisto Oy, a Finnish forerunner in sawmill machinery, has found a dependable partner in MOS, which provides them with both installation and installation supervision services. The cooperation has developed into a continuous and close partnership, enabling Veisto to optimize its resources and ensure high-quality project execution.

A long-term partner for streamlining and developing operations

The collaboration between MOS and Veisto began in 2022 when Veisto’s current technical expert Tuomas Heikkinen and MOS’s entrepreneur Saku Pelkonen met on a shared worksite. Tuomas was convinced by MOS’s expertise, and the first joint project—the installation of a saw line in France—was carried out in summer 2022.

Veisto’s After Sales Manager Timo Koljonen says that Veisto had been looking for a long-term partner for installation and maintenance work—one who could offer insights for operational development. “We weren’t looking for a partner just for a single project. We wanted someone with whom we could evolve our operations further. That’s exactly what we’ve succeeded in doing with MOS,” says Koljonen.

The collaboration has increased efficiency and improved project management

Today, MOS has a continuous 4–5 person installation and maintenance crew working on Veisto’s projects, as well as an expert for installation supervision and documentation. “MOS’s installers have been almost a full-time resource. In addition, we’ve received tools from MOS for developing our operations,” says Koljonen.

Pelkonen says they have introduced Veisto to tools for installation supervision, site operations development, and quality management, which help identify and solve challenges early. “These tools have improved the quality and efficiency of site installations. Weekly reports and documentation keep everyone up to date and allow for quick responses to potential issues,” Pelkonen says.

Koljonen praises MOS’s contribution to developing project management. “Planning, scheduling, and documentation have all progressed with MOS. Thanks to more systematic documentation, we can now compare different projects better than before, and of course, improved documentation supports quality management,” Koljonen notes. Pelkonen says he especially values the positive feedback from Veisto’s experienced installers regarding the development work. That is a sign of success.

Smooth and flexible collaboration

Koljonen commends MOS for their smooth cooperation: “Project work requires flexibility on both sides. We’ve been able to agree on things well with MOS and find mutually beneficial solutions.” Pelkonen also praises the working relationship with Veisto’s installation team: “In travel-based work, matching personalities is key. It’s important that teamwork flows on-site. Veisto’s sawmills are modern technology—no one can master everything. Everyone will face challenging tasks and problems at some point. In those moments, the support of the community and good colleagues is invaluable. Many problems have been solved as a team and surely will be again,” Pelkonen assures and adds: “The best part is that many colleagues have become good friends.”

In addition to smooth collaboration, Koljonen gives credit to MOS’s permanent team. “The fact that MOS has a stable team is a big advantage for us because experience shows in efficiency and expertise. Some service providers have high turnover, which means the same tasks must repeatedly be taught to new people,” Koljonen notes.

Domestic origin and local presence are also important values for Veisto. “Even when we work abroad, it’s important to complete the project with a Finnish team. It’s great that we found a skilled partner from our own South Savo region,” Koljonen says.

Holding on to a reliable partner

When a reliable partner is found, you want to keep them. Koljonen says they have a clear vision for the future: “Our collaboration will continue.” Pelkonen also values the partnership and sees it developing further: “Veisto has been an important partner for us. They have a fantastic installation crew with a desire to develop operations. What better community to continue and step by step develop things forward together.”

Koljonen warmly recommends MOS to other companies as well: “I can definitely recommend MOS as a partner. MOS is a reliable operator with a flat organizational structure that enables direct and effective cooperation. Their project management experience brings real added value to the customer,” Koljonen summarizes.
